Since the third grade when I played the lead Christmas tree that refused to be cut down for the holiday season, I knew I always wanted to be involved in the entertainment industry. I thought I had a hold over the audience during my vocal solo while I shuffled around on stage in my cardboard-box-turned-evergreen-tree costume. It wasn’t until the curtain closed that I found out this “captivation” transpired because my dance partner threw up behind me.
After that fiasco, I stuck to behind the scenes work. I started directing plays and working on the crew. As a theatre and film major at KU, I became interested in sound design, but it wasn’t until my senior year summer internship at ARU Chicago that I got a taste of what the post production world was like.
When I returned to Chicago after graduating, I worked as a voice-over agent at Geddes Agency. Then I was hired as the client coordinator/marketing manager at ARU Chicago and eventually managed a flourishing media production facility. I’ve been lucky to have experienced several facets of the industry and to have collaborated on a wide variety of projects from thirty second spots to educational classroom videos to television programs on HGTV.
Longing to own a house with a yard and be back near close college friends, my husband and I moved here in the summer of ’07. Outside of work, I’m usually grabbing cocktails with pals, watching documentaries, reading the latest memoir or attempting to a cook something way too complicated and making a mess of my kitchen.
